    If the candidate attended high school or post-secondary school in Canada, they must hold a certificate, diploma, or degree from a Canadian high school or university. If the candidate is studying outside of Canada, they will need an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) to show that their foreign education is equivalent to a Canadian certificate, diploma, or degree earned at a Canadian high school or post-secondary institution.
    When applying, candidates must include their Canadian or foreign certification as well as their ECA certificate.

    Arranging Employment (Maximum 10 points)

    To get points in this section, the candidate must have a job offer from an approved Canadian firm for at least one year. Before seeking to come to Canada as a Federal Skilled Worker, the candidate must get this offer.

    In order for a job-offer to be valid, it must meet the following criteria:

    • For full-time, continuous, paid labour (minimum of 30 hours/week)
    • For a job that is classified as NOC skill level 0, A or B.

    The government of Canada must be persuaded of the following :

    • That the individual is capable of performing the job.
    • When in Canada, the candidate must be able to get a licence or certification.

    The candidate must fall into one of the following circumstances to receive points (67 points Canada calculator 2020) for the scheduled employment:

    Situation 1:


    You presently hold a work permit in Canada and fulfil all of the following requirements :

    • Both when you apply and when you issue a permanent resident visa, your work permit is valid (or when you are allowed to work in Canada without a work permit at the time your visa is issued).
    • We granted your work permit based on a favourable Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) from Employment and Social Development Canada in a Type 0 occupation with a skill level of A or B. NOC (no objection).
    • You are employed by the company listed on your work permit.
    • Based on your approval as a skilled worker, this firm has issued a valid job offer.

    Situation 2:


    You are currently employed in Canada in a position that is exempt from the LMIA requirement for one of the reasons listed below :

    • a global deal (such as the North American Free Trade Accord) or a regional agreement
    • a substantial boost to Canadian interests
    • a pact between the federal government and the provinces


    All of the following requirements must also be met :

    • When you apply for and issue a permanent resident visa, your work permit is valid (or if you are allowed to work in Canada without a permit when your permanent resident visa is issued).
    • You have a valid job offer from your existing company based on your acceptance as a skilled worker.
    • You are currently employed by the company listed on your work permit.
    • You have worked for this employer for at least a year, full-time or equivalent, without interruption.

    Situation 3:


    All of the following requirements must be fulfilled:

    • You don’t have a work permit and don’t plan to work in Canada until you have a permanent resident visa.
    • An LMIA is a legal document that an employer owns.
    • Based on this LMIA and your approval as a Skilled Worker, this firm has offered you a valid job offer.

    Situation 4:


    All of the following requirements must be fulfilled:

    • You are in possession of a valid work permit or are permitted to work in Canada without one.
    • You currently work in Canada in a job that is not subject to an LMIA but is governed by an international federal-provincial agreement or provides a significant advantage to Canadian interests.
    • An employer other than the one for whom you are currently employed:

    1. Possesses an LMIA
    2. Based on this LMIA and your acceptance as a Skilled Worker, made you a genuine job offer


    ♦ Adaptability (Maximum 10 points)


    If the individual is relocating to Canada with a spouse, both of their qualifications and credentials will be considered.
